Our church ministries provide opportunities for growing deeper in our faithas well as sharing the gospel with our neighbors on the South Shore. Consider the opportunities listed to the left or this page for deepening your faith in Christ and helping others do the same.

Worship

At South Shore Baptist Church we are committed to developing a unified church of people that are desiring to meet God in a corporate setting where the Word of God is proclaimed and Biblical principles of worshiping together are realized. Our vision is to create a tapestry of blended worship by weaving a variety of musical elements in a way that enables our church to unite in worship and glorify God.

The eclectic style of music at South Shore Baptist Church focuses on the glory of God and highlights songs emphasizing theologically rich text and singable melodies. The passion of this ministry is to build a sustainable worship culture by intentionally developing musical skills and hearts for worship beginning at an early age.

Praise Teams

Below you will find a listing and information about specific opportunities to participate in the musical piece of the worship ministry. If you are interested in taking part, please fill out the Worship Leadership Interview Form, and submit to Jennifer Boel at jennifer@southshorebaptist.com

Children's Choir
The current Children's Choir, available to students in grades 1 - 5, was launched in 2005. In addition to learning songs, the children are being fostered in their faith and are given the opportunity to sing in worship services and additional events.

Other Children's Music
Occasionally volunteers prepare our Little Lambs and Kindergarten age students to sing for a worship service or special program.

Youth Choir
The Youth Choir, established in 2006 to provide a track in which students could progressout of Children's Choir, is open to students in grades 6 - 12. The goal of this choir is to cultivate musical skills and to nurture hearts to worship and lead in worship. Opportunities are given for the Youth Choir to sing in worship services, special events, and in the community.

During the church expansion project, the Youth and Children’s Choirs will not meet on a regularly scheduled basis.

Adult Choir
2007 Adult ChoirThe adult Choir is an established, seasoned ministry of SSBC. In addition to reinforcing musical skills and rehearsing the choral repertoire, there is a continued emphasis in the Choir family on developing a heartprepared for worship. The Choir meets weekly from late September through early May. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights from 7:15 pm - 8:45 pm in the Sanctuary. The Choir sings regularly on Sundays for the 11:00 am service and occasionally for the 8:15 am service.

Adult Praise Teams
The Praise teams consist of vocalists and various instrumental combinations that lead both our 8:15 am and 11: 00 am worship services. It is not the role of the Praise Teams to simply sing and play songs, nor does the team exist to entertain the congregation. It is the role of the Praise Team to assist the congregation through the medium of music, to worship God.

service

Jesus came as a servant, and he calls and gifts his followers to serve one another as well. Service is a fundamental aspect of the healthy Christian life. And it takes an army of servants, using their gifts and talents, to make a healthy church work. People entering a larger church sometimes feel they are unneeded. Not true! Every follower of Jesus has a gift and a role to play in the local congregation.

Ways to Serve

Some volunteer positions are standing (permanent ongoing positions), and some are single-project opportunities. For example, we need people for committees, for ministering, for ushering, for choirs, for nursery service, for children’s ministries, and for leading small groups. We need tellers, financial and property administrators, painters, receptionists, camp counselors, swimming beach lifeguards, EMT's during services, librarians, and Sunday school teachers. This is just a brief list - it is by no means exhaustive.

A healthy church is a community of healthy Christians who look to serve their congregation in small but powerful ways each week. We at SSBC encourage you to be a part of our service team. Below is a list of ministries looking for people willing to serve and to make a difference. Some positions may require an interview and/or you to be a member prior to service.
